This Novel is For the Intelligent Readers2015/1/6
Kadare depicts the palace of dreams which is a governmental organization which gathering all information of people's dreams.

Their mission is to identify and eliminate individuals and entities of anti-establishment. Thus, this novel can be seen as a metaphor of the intelligent world and bureaucratic society.

There are various reasons for this statement, 1) This story happens in the police-state, corporatist country; 2) The counter-intelligent organization's mission is to eliminate enemies of bureaucrats by mass-data surveillance system; 3) The protagonist of this novel gets deeply controlled by the bureaucratic scheme throughout this entire story.

In conclusion, this novel is a metaphor of the current societies where corporatist-surveillance system dominated and penetrated people's lives.

I recommend you to read this one if you concern about the true and real social issues of Japan.
