It's a remarkable propaganda of the U.S. Marine invasion of Guadalcanal Island on August 7, 1942. I prefer Anthony Quinn (1915-2003) in this film for his role Jesus ('Soose') Alvarez. US Marine was the undertaker of the Imperial Japan Army during WW2 (1939-45), and they defeated the enemies in the battle of Guadalcanal Island for the first time.

Anyway, 8/15 should not be the memorable defeated day of japan, 9/2 should be.
